Balducci's Coming to Dubai

Aug 5, 2008

Balducci's will roll out the first of multiple locations in Dubai this September, in partnership with real estate developer Nakheel Retail.

The first location will be located in the massive new Mall of Dubai, which is scheduled to open at the end of next month. More stores will open in key locations across Dubai, with further expansion in the Middle East planned.

"The celebration of food has global appeal, and we are delighted to offer the Balducci's experience -- one that has long been associated with high-quality, specialty food here in the U.S. -- to Dubai," said Balducci's c.e.o. Barbara Parasco.

As they do in the States, the Dubai Balducci's locations will stock imported cheeses; seasonal vegetables; freshly made soups, specialty sandwiches, and other prepared foods; and gourmet private label products.

Dubai, the most populous of the seven United Arab Emirates, is becoming an international business and tourism hub.

Bethesda, Md.-based Balducci's Food Lover's Market operates 10 stores in New York, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., as well as two locations in New York's Kennedy Airport.
